When You See What An Artist Created From Carefully Cut Paper, You'll Be Stunned

I bet you didn”t know that the cheap construction paper at the craft store could yield amazing and intricate results. Of course, it helps when the paper is in the able hands of French illustrator and designer Mlle Hipolyte. The artist creates beautiful masks and sculptures using carefully cut and folded paper.

Each mask is created entirely by hand, and no two are ever alike. The paper is layered and designed to mimic the feathers and fur of the creatures that inspire the masks, but the designs are kept simple and geometric. They feature bright colors that make them reminiscent of childhood toys and crafts. (Unfortunately, you won”t be able to get a pattern for any of these.)

Backgrounds are included with the masks, making it look like the creatures are emerging from a magical, colorful forest. However, as you can see below, the masks are perfectly wearable.

Besides masks, Hipolyte also creates equally intricate and colorful sculptures from paper.

This golden bird can”t be worn as a mask, but it”s a great piece of art!

Just like this owl…

…this eagle…

…and this flamingo!

Hipolyte has created numerous paper projects, many which have pretty great senses of humor. The artist also creates 2D illustrations that are definitely worth checking out. You can see all this and more on Hipolyte”s website, as well as on Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, and Behance.
